I'm trying to get my mp3 player to play through my laptop with a male to male mini plug from the earphone jack of the mp3 player to the line in/mic jack of my laptop. I know I've done it before I just can't remember.

No sound. I think the last time I just plugged it in and it worked but have done a reinstall since. External speakers work fine from the earphone jack on the laptop.

Make sure the Line In volume is turned up in Volume Control. You might have to show advanced options for it by going to Options>Properties.

Thanks. I made the adjustments, it still doesn't work. I'm also having problems with the mp3 player. Downloaded tunes don't work with the players earphones but FM does. I can also play the downloaded tunes through my laptop via USB

I don't need the laptop to play through mini jack but I do need the tunes to play on the mp3 player. Going on a long hike starting next week! Guess I'll go get a new one. :D
