I know this is not the right place to ask but I was not sure where esle to ask...

My 9300's hd went bad and rather than having dell replace it with a clean drive, I had a friend try to recover my data... He was able to recover most but not all of my data... There is one file that I need desperately and with out knowing the name, extension or location its nearly impossible, the data file from MS Outlook 2003.

Can someone tell me where Outlook 03 keeps its data file, what extension it is, what it names the file?

    thank you so much

It should be by default in your outlook folder. The name should be whatever you named it and the extension should be a .pst file.

    Hope this helps. :p

Just do a search. Assuming you have Windows XP:

    Start>Search

    All Files and Folders

    *.pst

That will find any and all .pst files on your pc.

    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\*.pst

"Local Settings" is hidden, so you need to go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Show Hidden Files and Folders!

Hmm, check on office website, under addins for MS outlook, there's a PST Backup tool, get that and it will automatically locate you pst(default) and let you back it up to another folder/drive, you can also set timed back up. :)
