After reading the Windows 10 thread I'm not excited at all either.

I was going to try it but I have a retail Windows 7 pro upgrade license on the machine I was going to use. I will not place that upgraded key at risk. So for now it does not even get a trial.

I've got enough W7 Pro licenses to choke a full stable of horses, so possibly sacrificing one is a non-issue. However, other things come into play...

I'm not all that young anymore. Do I *really* want to take away from the limited time that I have with my family in order to get the OS in question up and running on a spare system, with an extremely high probability of getting nothing out of it but sheer aggravation, judging by what I've read so far in the W10 threads?

I'm not all that healthy anymore either. Do I *really* need to raise my blood pressure to the point of having to go back to meds for the sake of giving the Redmond crew another benefit of a doubt?

Nah. I'm fairly certain that I'll sit this one out, thank you very much.

Windows 10 doesn't excite me even one bit after trying it. I will never ever install it as long as Microsoft will not stop this craziness about updating my drivers automatically

How exactly are you good? You can postpone/defer the updates, but not eliminate them completely...

:newpalm:Hey bud thanks I just saw that in the new build yes you can no longer stop them :(
I was able to stop them in build 10130

    just updated to 10240

That bleeps because now what is going to happen if a update Is bad
see before you could stop updates now they just install
and we all know you can not wait a month to install

I' am starting to rethink the upgrade myself

i wonder if the auto updating is causing aftermarket GPUs to not work?

whatever it is, but I don't want noone choosing my drivers but me. Who does Micro$haft think they are forcing us to install the drivers they want??

I understand its a good option for some people but for most who know their systems inside and out and want to retain OEM specific features return to some drivers such as Audio or GPU drivers, they wanna stick to the OEM official drivers. Even though there is an option in device manager to disable automatic driver installation, it does absolutely nothing, Windows update will still install drivers along with the Windows updates and what's worse it installs everything in one shot without rebooting after each driver which is the recommended way of installing drivers.

This is really really really looking bleak. If Win10 seriously forces updates and drivers, this is sincerely the end. I will definitely not support W10 at all and just ride out Win7 or 8.1 as long as I can. Sad days indeed.

Especially since we've seen how well "their" drivers worked over the past decade...

Topic is old/expired and repetitive as a thread, locking this one.
