    Right i really need to go to bed but i am in the middle of installing something. will putting the computer into hibernation and continuing the installation tomorrow do any damage? i need to know now!

    lots of software/hardware doesn't like to be put to sleep/hibernate when really running/active. Installs are critical, why take the chance?

    I'd just let it run while you're sleeping.

    But... if you want to hibernate it, it should be able to handle it fine.
