Hi, I've installed vista ultimate x64 in my asus f3sr notebook. Everything works fine except hibernation, when I press hibernation buttot, after few seconds screen goes blank and after ~20s pc turns off (with working hibernation is the same), but when I turn it on it says that windows has shut down unexpectly. So what's the problem? BTW, sleep is working fine. Whank you for your answers!![]()

I have the exact same problem, but I am using Vista32 Home Premium.
Mine is infact a clean install !
Everything else works fine, even sleep. But hibernating just keeps giving the same error about improper shutdown.
I hope you are able to find a solution -
Try disabled Hibernation, I always use sleep no plm.

I have got SP1 installed. I also tried disabling and then enabling hibernation, but it didn't solve my problem.

What notebook guys?
It could be a driver or program failing to go into a sleep state. -
I have got the XPS m1330.
Sleep works fine, it's hibernate that's causing errors -
Flush your hibernating caches. Use disk cleanup to do this.

Try removing any power management softwares that you or ASUS might have installed on your notebook, reboot, try to Hibernate your notebook, and please post what happens.

MS has addressed this problem here, try following their steps as well.

OMG! Thank you! I love you! It worked ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951218) THANKS! THANKS! THANKS! THANKS! THANKS!

Didn't work for me
I don't understand what's wrong. I keep getting the error that the specified value doesn't exist when I try to delete the identifier.
I have followed the MS guide many times. Guess I will just have to do without hibernate -

Well, when I received the system hibernate used to work. Quickset was also installed then.
Then, I did a clean install and hibernate hasn't worked ever since.
I will try uninstalling quickset and then report back
Edit: Uninstalled quickset. Restarted the computer. Still getting the same error about element not found
Can someone post a screenshot of their bcd config file [bcdedit -enum all]
Thanks a lot -
Try looking here as well. -
I have got three identifiers, and all three are exactly same. That's what I wanted to verify whether other systems have the same identifier for boot manager, boot loader and hibernate.
Thanks a lot Silas for your help -
Try changing your video drivers. Remove them completely, using DriverSweeper (it's small and free), reboot, and install the latest WHQL certified drivers. There's a thread in this forum, with the same problem as that of yours (though in Windows XP), and he/she/it fixed it by changing the graphics drivers. Deamon Tools caused the same problems as well.

Thanks.
Will give it a try later. Somewhat busy right now so don't have the time for changing the drivers.
My current drivers (175.97) are whql certified and were supplied by Dell.
What driver version do you suggest ? -
I don't know, same driver works differently for different notebooks that's what I've come know from my experiences with them. Your drivers are stable, so that's not the problem. Must be something like a virtual drive messing up. Good luck, I'm off to watch Batman Begins in BD (200th time for me) with my little nooblet missus (to-be, hopefully).
I'll surely try to help you again later, but for that you'll have to post what softwares you have installed on your system. A screen shot of Programs and features would suffice.

Hehe
You go watch that movie, and don't let me catch you online for the next two hours
And, thanks a looooot for all the help -
I recently updated my video drivers to 177.83 ( with WHQL certificate ) and the problem still remains.
I am unable to understand what the problem could be.
