I don't think this is a secret but if yo want to have "run" permanentely on your menu instead of pressing the windows key + r, you can do the following.

Right click on the start menu or the task bar and select properties. Then click customize button. Then look for the option of displaying RUN in start menu and select it.

    Thanks for sharing Wirelessman...
I have another. To put a shortcut of Network Connection window on desktop:
    Create a folder called

    Network Connections.{7007ACC7-3202-11D1-AAD2-00805FC1270E}

    Simple isn't it? :)

Supersite Software Pick of the Week

"If you're looking for a TweakUI replacement for Windows Vista, there are several contenders, but the one that's closest in spirit and functionality is, I believe, WinBubble, a freeware application by Lawrence Albert" - Paul Thurrott, WinSupersite.com

And even when you do understand the options, like almost all the tweak applications, you get no idea what it is REALLY doing to your operating system. You have to hold your breath and hope that the app isn't changing so registry entry that will cause something else you do to no longer function correctly. These apps all require you to place a great amount of faith in the author of the app.

I have suggested to Lawrence and others that they be more open with their tweaker apps and have the app clearly show exactly what they are doing. Transparency is a very good thing in this sort of environment. But alas this request keeps falling on deaf ears. All I ever hear back is some nonsense about it being their "trade secret" or the like.

For me, I have used some of these apps but only in conjunction with a registry auditing app that compares the registry before and after the tweaks are applied so I can see for myself what is being done and insure that my own development environment is not being compromised.

I have seen my share of such tweak apps over the years written by first time programmers. Think about that for a moment... a first time programmer mucking about in the core of the operating system. Tis a very scary thought to someone who has been programming for almost forty years.

I want to make this perfectly clear I am NOT singling out Lawrence in this respect.

    Gary

I don't think you are singling out Lawrence, you have expessed your natural concerns as dealing with an application affecting the registers, it is scary indeed.

I wonder if there is a manual, I guess your suggestion would be better addressed if Lawrence would write a sticker, that would help tremendously in boosting our confidence level on using Winbubbles.

And it is STILL not documented, despite the continued assurances (rather hollow at this point) from Lawrence that he would document what the application does. He still wants us to make the leap of faith that his application is totally benign and we should just blindly trust that everything it does is perfectly safe.

Until it is documented, I continue to say thanks but no thanks. I trust NO tweaking apps that don't clearly document the details of what they do, period. Again I want to make it perfectly clear that I am not singling out Lawrence. But he HAS assured us he would document this application and has still not done so.

That's a good stance to take. Plus, the application in question (WinBubbles) is recommended by Thurrott, which makes it naturally suspect. That guy is about as clueless as they come...

WinBubble can create your own tweaker inside the app. I know your good at that.

Why would I want to contribute to an application that I do not recommend?

I have a suggestion, do what you have told us you would do in the past. Document the tweaks this app does.

Uhh, folks, how's about keeping the testiness level down a wee bit - after all, it'd be a shame to have the mods close the thread down for something silly like a lack of civility.

The truth is I'm still thinking about the features of the next version. I'm not contended with the list of features I have right now.

I know last time I usually update winbubble every month But...
These past few weeks I can't write any code.

I'm still thinking about the next features.

I need sometime. hope you understand guys... Thanks
