I've noticed that to scroll through some pdfs that have scanned images that it takes up to 80% of my CPU resources and the scrolling is very jerky. I have a P8700 dual core processor.
Any ideas why this could be happening?

what kind of video card
are the video drivers up to date
what pdf reader are you using
what os and patch level
etc, etc, etc. -
*Sigh* Adobe Reader... It's so poorly coded that it can choke a desktop i7 under the right (or should I say, wrong) circumstances.
Do you know what resolution the original images were? If they were 10 MP photos or something, that's going to be a problem no matter how fast your computer is. -
Adobe Reader/Acrobat tends to run slowly and use high CPU in PDFs with many images - this is especially an issue in Acrobat 8, and Acrobat 9 is a little bit better.
If this gets to be a big problem for you, you can use SumatraPDF or Foxit instead, both of those use much less CPU. I use Acrobat, though, since it has many features that both of those lack that I use quite often. -
Short answer: It's Adobe PDF reader. It's crappy.
Try foxit like MidnightSun said. -
King's right. Adobe Reader is just bad, like MidnightSun said.
