Hey. I've got WinDVD 7 and I was wondering what I could do to view the movie with the greatest video and audio quality.
There are quite a few different features I could use, that WinDVD 7 has built in, but I'm not sure what is best. My main concern is the audio. I want it to sound good when I'm watching movies like "Steve Vai: Live At The Astoria London" or "Pink Floyd: The Wall", which rely a great deal on the way the sound is presented.
If there are any tips or tricks you have that could help improve the video and audio of DVD playback, please let me know. I've got some nice headphones and I want to enjoy the DVD experience to the fullest.
Thanks!

Well, all the drivers for the audio are built into the software. It has Dolby Surround and Virtual Surround. If you're playing this on your notebook, I guess it won't really make too much of a difference since the speakers are still a bit on the weak side vs external powered speakers.
But when I setup my PowerDVD, I set it up for 2 Speakers, Stereo. In the Advanced Audio settings, I setup Dolby Virtual Speaker to Wide 2, Cyberlink Virtual Speaker to Theater. Under Misc I set Dynamic Rage Compression to Noisy Environment (recommeneded for notebook users) & you can enable Low Frequency Effect (LFE) to enabled if you want (pretty much puts the sub-woofer audio into the front 2 speakers).
For video quality, I either set it to Original or Vivid (all default settings, didn't adjust brightness, hue, etc...).
These settings work for me and I'm happy with the quality I get when watching DVD's on my notebook.
Hope this helps.

Ok, I'll try some of the settings that you've suggested. Thanks for the assistance. Any improvement I can get is worth it.
Thanks again.
