    Tried installing this on my A8JS, but Homeworld 2 remarks that my DirectX is not the correct version :(

    Are the Vista DirectX programs the same as Win XP DirectX?

    They should be. Homeworld 2 sounds like it has an issue with detecting the DX version installed. Make sure Vista has all the updates you can find, and try Google.

    Try running it in compatibility mode for XP SP2.

    hi everyone i have finally discovered how to make homeworld 2 work on vista after some trial and error. so here it is....if you are trying to open the game then a black screen come and then it crashes and goes back to the desktop here is the solution...

    first uninstall it because u may have done something wrong.
    then start the install.
    while installing home world 2 should ask if u want to download optional download download them both even if u have them.
    next once finished downloading. browse your cd there will be a patch file enter that and begin the updadte patch.
    after u have done that right click on the homeworld 2 icon go to compatibility and say run as administrator and windows xp pack2 .
    after that your now ready to play. right click on the icon and say run as administrator and i should open up if have any problems or anyother things please write to [email protected]

    you need to use directx runtime update from microsoft. it seems you dont have very recent version (then vista should work fine with hw2, i'm running it right now!)
