Horizontal scrolling on the touchpad doesn't seem to work in Firefox. It does in IE, though. I've searched for ways to try to make it work, but all I've come up with is changing about:config, with no luck.

    I'm on a Dell 1420 with a ACPI touchpad.

I can live without horizontal scrolling, but it would be so much easier with it.

Does anyone have any info on this?

I have m1710 and horizontal scrolling works great for me in pretty much everything, including firefox. And IIRC I didn't have to change any settings specifically to make it work.

Try a new version of Firefox? Turn off and on auto and smooth scrolling?

Same issue here, just with a TrackPoint. I have installed the latest TrackPoint driver and I have the latest version of Firefox.

Just like the OP I have no issues in Internet Explorer, only Firefox. Horizontal scrolling just doesn't work. Even tried tweaking the Firefox config file, using a Linux guide, but to no avail.

    Help would be appreciated.
