My friend bought a laptop here in Iraq from another buddy but as you don't know soldiers in Iraq always move from camp to camp so the laptop don't have cd's or accessories. Well my friend do that to get all my movies and other stuff, well he is not that good with pc worst than me and I don't know how he delete the IE and WMP icon's from both the desktop and star menu. But they still on the files in the C drive and he can play movies just clicking because is the default but he's mad for all the music, but the folders are there too I show that so he's not that mad now. So how I can put back the icons on the start menu again? Oh by the the OS is Vista HB...

Just go to the start-up file for both programs, right click on them and choose 'create shortcut', or 'add to start menu'. The program's (wmp/ie) each have their own folder inside the 'program files' folder (C:/program files/.....). If it creates the shortcut/icon in the folder where the original file is you can just drag it to your desktop or anywhere else.

I hope this will help keeping your friends to busy watching movings and browsing the internet to shoot anyone or get shot them selfs ;)

For media player, goto C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player folder and find the wmplayer Application. Right click on wmplayer and choose Send To-> Desktop (create shortcut).

For IE, goto C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer and find the iexplore Application. Right click on iexplore and choose Send To-> Desktop (create shortcut)

Hmmm, sorry, i assumed i gave enough info in my first post, but maybe this is easier for you. Open up the start menu and enter 'iexplore.exe' in the search bar, then right click and choose 'add to start menu' or 'create shortcut'. For WMP search for the filename 'wmplayer.exe' and follow the same steps.

I'd recommend you and your friend find yourself a basic Windows tutorial, you can learn these simple tasks easily in the time it takes to watch one movie.
