i have a MSI A6200-206US Laptop with Intel i3 CPU

MSI was kind enough to supply a utility called System Control Manager (SCM) and it has what's called ECO which, when selected, throttles back the CPU frequency (and tehreby lowers the CPU temp by 8-10C) and sets other power parameters such as when an external monitor will turn off, etc.

Problem is, I have to start SCM every time I boot the laptop, then select which ECO mode I want (there's Gaming, Office, etc) and then I have to go into Control panel / Power Options and set the monitor to NEVER turn off since I almost always use a desktop display and don't want it to ever turn off. I have to do this every time I turn the Laptop on/off.

Does anyone know of a free utility that does the same job as the MSI SCM/ECO utility but one that will always keep the settings I select?

    Thanks

I think most power management tools outside of the OS are hokey. I would uninstall it and get the settings where you want it and let the cpu handle itself.
