    HELP!

Ok I got the the Disk Managment tool, the Help file says this to create a new partition.

To create a new partition, right-click unallocated space on the basic disk where you want to create the partition, and then click New Partition.

Where the hell is that? I've right clicked everywhere in there!!!!

i don't know what limitations their trialware has (or even if they have a trial version). you can check their website. there's also google for potentially free partition apps.

The Live CD of Digital Dolly can resize and create partitions.

Havn't tried it so I can't say how good it is. Have used dd for creating a image set of my HD to my server for backup.

PM does work well but that cost $$$. But if you decide to make a dual boot system, it make it easier to setup.

It sounds like you're using the entire drive for your XP partition. You could try using a linux livecd... like one with gparted or somesuch (ubuntu install cd for instance), to resize your xp partition. I don't think it can move the beginning of the partition, but you could shrink it to fit in another one after.

    Hi usapatriot,

I guess you asked about the normal way of making partitions within XP?

Right click on my computer. Choose Manage. Choose disk management. There you can make new partitions, logical disks etc... Change volume letters or make dynamic partitions. Format etc...

    Hope it helps,

    Ivan

Set you boot sequence to CDROM first, make sure you have the CD in and turn on or restart you notebook/PC. The Ubuntu logo and some options should apprear.

I've used the Linux Live CD's with great effect

    check this page
    http://mlf.linux.rulez.org/mlf/ezaz/ntfsresize.html

for more details, lots of options, and the one I used last time had a nice graphical interface, no more number crunching (not that I minded, but you might).

i second the gparted live cd. just download the iso, burn it with nero or even dvd decrypter and then boot it. really nice and simple interface, easy to use. i suppose to be held from liability i should tell you to back up everything first :D
