    You can try this trick:

. leave the windows you want maximised.
. hold down the CTRL key, then "File" -> EXIT

    cheers ...

also this could work: put the shortcut in the quicklaunch menu, rigtclick the shortcut, choose properties, and in the Run option, select maximized window.

it works, when I launch from the desktop (the shortcut)

But when i open, say documents from the start bar, it still opens windowed

Maybe there is some registry entry I can edit to open em maximised????

This is pretty simplistic, but I believe that Vista is designed to automatically revert, after reboot, to the last manner in which you had the file open. This should, at least, work for some of the files and applications. It's worked pretty well for me, although I've had to reboot several times on occasion, to make it work, and I've had to occasionally repeat the process after a while when Vista 'forgets' . . .

Glad to hear, was wondering in your post#4 above, why it did not go on the 1st try.

    cheers ...

    Not sure

Maybe it needed a reboot, shut down for it to work

As long as it worked in the end :D

This is the way I do it. My son turned me on to it.

Edit the properties for your Windows Explorer shortcut. Right click on the shortcut, choose properties.
    The target should read:

    %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, C:\Path\you\want\to\load

space after the .exe, and space after the comma

If your path has spaces in it, then put the path in quotes.

I don't have anything after the C:\ so it just expands the C drive and goes no further. If there was a specific folder on the C drive you wanted to expand automatically when Windows Explorer is opened then you would add that after the C:\ in the target above.
