I'm running Win XP w/ Service Pack 3. I use my computer a lot in a place without wifi access, and I keep getting these annoying pop-ups saying the connection has "little or no connectivity." It pops up every 5 minutes because the computer keeps searching for access over and over. I'm just trying to figure out how to get these messages to stop.
I went to the task bar options and switched the wireless icon to "always hide." The thing is, it stays hidden for five minutes then reappears along with the pop-ups, and when I go back to the options I find that it has switched back to "hide when inactive."Is there any way to fix this?

easiest is to disable the wireless card in device manager until you need it, then just reenable it.

its an XP thing I swear. I do remember there was a registry hack to kill all notifications somewhere a couple years ago but have no idea where I would even start to look for it now.

I think on the Wireless properties you can turn off that particular warning message from popping up:
- Open Control Panel
- Then open Network Connections and right-click on the Local Area Connection and click then on Properties
- Under the General Tab, uncheck the "Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity" option then click OK. -
How can I permanently hide wireless icon in the taskbar??
