So, about 2 weeks ago, i found an update on my computer that i had malicious viruses infesting my computer. When i was going to fix them, something happened where EVERYTHING on my computer got deleted.. My background, my programs, my desktop icons, everything.. but when i go to my control panel to remove my programs, it says everything is there.

Also, i just downloaded Avast antivirus, the full deal and it removed all the virsuses, but i still can't figure out how to get all my programs back.. I also notice my computer runs much slower now. i'm not sure if it's because i run my internet on internet explorer apposed to Google chrome like i'm used to.. but i'm not sure. another thing, i try and re-download my Google chrome, but it doesn't download it or deleted it EVERY TIME. If i could get some assistance, that'd be greaaaatt,

I would say wipe out your hard drive by reformatting, and freshly re-install everything. I hope you have backed up your files.

Yea, I think you need a reformat. I'm guessing that data is gone for good and if you got it back it would be corrupted

Perhaps those files are simply hidden by some type of FakeAV/ransomware.
While Avast certainly isn't bad, it sounds like you've still got quite some issues.

Maybe it was actually an easy to remove FakeAV but I wouldn't count on it that your computer is clean by now.
As already adviced, I'd backup important data and then full-format and do a reinstall OR post your issue at a specialized forum like BleepingComputer.
Be aware that sometimes it can take several days before you've completed all steps/gotten all needed advice; link.

    Download, and run rkill.
READ THE DESCRIPTION, then scroll down to the rkill download links.
If it shuts down anything other than itself, update, and run scans again.

    bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill
If you don't have Mbam, install update, and run it also.

    download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=rb_content;main

After all this, run a boot time scan with avast.
