    Can't take it

Basically some of my albums are in wma format so when I add them to my iTunes library, they get converted to mp3s and I get what you see in the screenshot.

    It's AWFUL...so cluttered.

fix their tags in itunes, and it will rename the folders.

not that you should ever CARE about the folder structure behind anyways. but that would fix it.

That's gonna take forever. I hate it because iTunes is not my primary player and sometimes I need to go find the music in the folder...it takes me a while to sort through all that crap.

there is windows search, no need to go trough all that crap.

but fixing tags to work right is the magic solution for EVERYTHING sound-chaos related. hard work once, great life for ever afterwards.

Sorting by folders is easier than using tags for a lot of things.

    To the OP:
Stop using apple software? - Might be a solution...

Yeah I agree. The problem is I need it for my iPod Touch. I didn't even have iTunes installed before I got the iPod...

I think there are alternatives :)
Isn't there something called SeaMonkey or so from Mozilla? :)

no. as tags are folders + more. sorting by tags is AS EASY as sorting by folders. but sorting by tags allows you more functionality. but det doesn't get that, det is living in the early 18iest century. :)

    bad idea det, really bad.

learn how to use it, instead of bashing it. master your tools. once you understood itunes, you wouldn't actually ask this question :)

and no alternative will bring him ANY gain over itunes. stop ing it, det. it's not right to do so. and you know that.

to the op: do you know you can even use the tags IN EXPLORER? no need to care for the folders, there.

I don't even know what SeaMonkey is.

Ugh I guess I'll just put in the time and organize my files the way my OCD likes it lol

There's MediaMonkey which works with any iPod. Though you need iTunes to be installed, you never have to open it as you can do your syncing through MediaMonkey. Here is a guide to set up some settings to prevent problems in the future.

Other than that, good tagging will solve most of your problems. I once spent the whole day tagging my whole music library with the artists' names, album art, album name and removing underscores from the music names. It is one day I do not intend to go through again.

This is a little extreme but its worked for me: If you have an ipod handy and all the artists are the same you can sync your ipod and then rip the music off of it with ephpod and it will put all songs by an artist in one folder, this will only work though if all the songs have the same artist name in itunes.
