This is an example of what I want to do.

Hi, i'm on my friends computer, just using it and theres a picture I don't want him to see of me on a social networking website.

I Don't want him to see the image itself. I don't want to block all of the images from the website and obviously don't want to block the whole website from him.

I have been having a look at HOSTS, although it doesn't block the image itself.

I put in http://www.blahblah.com/8389/3983.jpg just like the rest of the websites are and it won't block the image.

I don't want to put on a firefox add-on because going through his settings, he will eventually notice.

    How can I do it?

    Thanks

Take your picture off the net?

Ask whoever has put up your picture to take it off the net?
You can try threatening legal action - however, in some countries one can publish a picture of someone else without that persons permission, provided it is taken under circumstances in which privacy cannot be expectd.
(but most people won't know that)
Example: Public ground, pubs etc. - these pictures could be posted of you in the UK without your permission.

No its not like that. I put up the picture, I like it. But I just don't want my friend to see it. Its hard to explain.

I want everyone to see it, just not this person.

Is there any way to do it?

Without third party applications possibly no.

You may be able to block it via some parental control software...
Or you could try registering as a malicious site in your antivirus - try to blacklist it as a dangerous site...

But really, once something is on the internet its hard to get off again.

You like the picture a lot, you want everyone to see it, but not your so-called "friend" - what is it, a blackmail pic of this "friend" or something?

Quite frankly, if the website you've stuck it on isn't sophisticated enough to give you per-image control over who can, and who cannot, see each of your images, then you'd be better off just taking the thing down.

As usual, hitting the arrows everywhere!

@OP - Use the person's HOSTS file to block it.

    Thank you.

Hosts only block websites, they don't block images. :(

Really? Just put the image's address there and 127.0.0.1 next to it, and I think it'll work.

Fair dinkum. Have you tried putting the URL for a specific resource into your HOSTS file to see if it'll redirect on that (I haven't which is why I'm asking)?

Asking me? Yeah, it works for the thousands of websites I have in my HOSTS file.

Yah, well, I know it works for websites - I got em in mine, too - what I don't know is if it works for a particular file on a given website.

I would think so, because I don't see any reason for it to not work, but the OP says it didn't for him, so here we are!

Why would you illegally modify without their permission your friends computer to see an image you don't want your friend to see?

Since you likely do not have permission to modify the settings of the person's computer you are using, the thread violates the forum rules so it is now closed.

I suggest being more careful about what you post online(there are hundreds of "horror" stories about negative repercussions) or at least use some common sense.
