Anyone care to help this noobee?
I'd like to install the theme shown below: (What I'm really after is the start menu, with the clear, see through glass effect on the right side)
![]()
I download the file and expand it (it's a rar file), then put it in my Downloads.
However, if I right click on my desktop, go to Personalize/Theme/Browse, and then find the theme and select it, it gives me what looks like an XP theme, NOT aero type Vista theme..... more specifically, there is a folder called "m11", and inside this folder is a file called "m11" along with another folder called "m11"... I click on the icon, NOT on the folder. Inside that folder are three more folders, en-US, Shell and Walls.
Can someone tell me what I"m doing wrong? Does this have to be in the Themes folder? I have tried that, and still couldn't get it to work. I've put the folder and file (Windows Vista Style File named M11 along with a folder named M11 in the Windows/Resources/Themes folder, but when I right click on my desktop, and go to Personalize/Themes/Browse... I can't see the m11 icon. I assume this is what I'm supposed to click on.
Can ANYONE give me step by step instructions?
I have also used VistaGlazz beta, for Vista SP1. It tells me it's patched everything, but I still must be doing something wrong.
Thanks for any and all help!

Since you have patched the system files, just extract the rar file that you have downloaded and put the folder under C:\Windows\Resources\Themes. Double click the .msstyles to start using the theme. And your theme will probably have the same name as Windows Aero, just choose the one you downloaded.

I wouldn't rely on VistaGlazz, better download needed patches from here and apply them yourself in safe mode under administrator. Then just put new theme in windows/resources/themes, as haOkepa mentioned and it will appear in the list of available themes. Good luck

Someone on another thread re themes recommended TuneUp Utilites, which I downloaded and used to switch themes!
Works like a charm. Only issue is, it's rather expensive ($49), but it does seem to have alot of other nice features.
guess I'll have to decide after 30 days if I want to shell out the cash.
Thanks for all of your help!
How do I change Vista Themes? Anyone???
