I will rephrase the question. I know I can go into IE internet options and delete the History. This will do it. Is there a way to prevent IE from saving those sites in the address bar?

I only have IE7 on my machine but i'm pretty sure it's the same as FF so i say go to Options>Clear private Data, and make sure they are all clicked if that's what you want. You also may see delete instead of clear but click that anyways.

I use IE 7. There in Internet Options>General in Settings for history click "never". So it won't save items in history

you go to tools > internet options > .....i dont remember from there, but there should be something along the lines of delete history.

OR you can just download CCleaner from www.filehippo.com, and it does it for you =D.
