I bought my laptop in 2007 and it came with a vista disc, but only a 32 bit version. I'd like to go to a 64 bit system and maybe upgrade the RAM to 6GB. Can I just call microsoft and request a 64bit version since my disk only came with one version? Or am I stuck with paying for it? Thanks
    Dan

I believe that you can upgrade your OEM 32bits to 64bits. Microsoft would charge for some shipping cost.

Have you try asking your OEM? They are your first level of support, maybe only.

You know the forum has this wonderful feature, it is quite "unique" its called "search".

    But to answer your question.
RAM - check if your chipset supports more than 2GB/4GB etc.

    About 64Bit
Either contact your OEM (i.e. manufacturer) or contact Microsoft directly.
I believe that in recent months Microsoft has handed the task of distributing 64Bit versions of an OS over to the OEM suppliers.

You are able to use your old license too - although there have been issues with OEM versions in the past.
