How do I go about getting rid of this in Microsoft word. They are like two brackets that appear at the top and at the bottom. This doesnt appear on my other computer. I dont think it does anything, but it is a mild annoyance to me. Here is a image of it.

    Thanks

It is your text boundaries. Go to Tools-->options-->View Tab--> uncheck "text boundaries" under the print & web layout options.

The text boundries was already unchecked. If I checked it, it added a rectangular box around the brackets.

ugh, i was afraid that might happen. On mine, the brackets showed up when i checked the text boundaries. I'll keep searching and see if i can find anything.

I think it has something to do with you rulers. That's what it is showing. It is showing where your rulers are on the actual page.

i'm sure southerngirl suggestion to fix your problem is right. you should uncheck the "text boundaries." however, since this is not working i think your best bet is to reinstall your office. btw, i don't think the problem is on the ruler.

That's what i was going to suggest this morning - reinstall it. I searched and tried a million different things for a couple of hours, and i can't figure it out. I didn't mean that something was wrong with the rulers. I just meant that I think that is what the bracket is doing - it is showing the horizontal/vertical edges of your page. If you adjust your margins on the rulers, then the brackets should move. I don't have an explanation as to why they won't go away though :-/

    Sorry.

The additional languages support messes up a lot of things in Word and PowerPoint. I haven't experienced a bug with Excel, though (in this respect)
