    Hi,

I recently bought a SONY VAIO FZ104E Laptop which has a SATA harddisk. The Laptop came with Vista..When I tried to boot the Laptop using my original XP disk (which I purchase more than a year back), everything appeared to go fine until I got a screen saying that no internal harddisk found...I had to pay a bit and a "support guy" somehow got XP installed... I have yet to check if all drivers are working or not.

In the meanwhile, I googled and found out that the CD I had did not have the drivers for a SATA harddisk. Then I read about the "streamline" concept and would like to make a bootable CD/DVD/"streamlined CD/DVD" which will have:

    1) XP SP2

    2) All the patches that have been released since Xp's SP2 (which I am in the process of downloading using AutoPatcher), and

    3) All the drivers that that I have downloaded for my Laptop from Sony's web site.

How do I go from here in order to make the "streamlined" DVD  Do I simply copy all the download patches and the drivers to some folder or  ????? Somewhere I read about nLite or something but could not really figure out and am ending my writing this post/request.

Will be very much thankful for your help.

You need nLite yes. It does it all for you. Asks you to insert the cd. Copies it. Has options to update the service pack and to integrate updates and drivers you like. Then it creates an image for you which you can burn and use.

The Term you want is "SlipStream" not streamline. Slipstream will allow you do something as simple as just putting the latest Patches and service packs on a disk to creating an install disc that is just pop in and go and when you come back you have a full running system with all tweaks and apps installed.

Yes. For the updates, you can, with a bit of googling, find complete packages containing every windows update released since SP2. That makes it a lot easier to bring your slipstreamed cd up to date. (Because downloading the updates individually is a pain)

You'll probably also want to add IE7 to the disc.

Hello, can't see anyone tell you about this, so here we go...

    Windows Updates Downloader (WUD)

Welcome to the Windows Updates Downloader. If you're familiar with WUD already then you already know where you're

going. For those of you who are new to WUD, please read on.

So I'm pretty sure one of the first questions you're asking is What is the Windows Updates Downloader?

The Windows Updates Downloader was actually created through my long lasting addiction to the MSFN forums. Anyone who knows anything about MSFN knows that it's famous for being the number one

source of information and help on the Internet for unattended Windows installations and Windows customizations. One

of the great things about creating unattended Windows installations is that you can integrate all of the latest

updates into the installation and avoid spending hours waiting for the updates to download and install themselves

after a fresh installation. As time goes on since the last service pack was released, the list of Windows updates

tends to grow to be quite lengthy.

Creating an unattended Windows installation solved the installation portion of the problem but all of the updates

needed to be manually downloaded before they could be integrated into the installation source. With the quantity of

updates quickly approaching triple digits, it was clear something was needed to speed things up. This is where WUD

    comes along.

WUD allows you to download all of the current Windows Updates using a simple interface. All of the updates are

contained in Update Lists (ULs) which allows you to choose which updates you want for which version of Windows. Once WUD has complete it's downloads, you simply integrate them into your

Windows source using one of the many popular tools such as nLite.

As time goes on the Windows Updates Downloader continues to evolve. ULs are available for software other then

Windows and automatic installation of updates is available on supported versions of Windows. WUD aims to help power

users, tweakers and system administrators speed up their unattended installs, network deployments and automatic

    updates.

    Enjoy.
