Hey guys. I'm trying to compare monitors and video quality between different computers and graphics cards. One of the things I would like to do is use the same software on the computers to test video quality in movies (H.264 AVC and MPEG-2 mostly). I am using the same video players, but how do I know that they video players are using the same video decoders (codecs)? Is there a way to globally manage video codecs so that I can be sure that the players are using the same ones across the computers?

With MPC-HC you can choose the codecs you want... WMP will always use the default win7 codecs...

The best way is to just to not install any third party codecs. It will use the defaults. If you do install third party ones, make sure the package comes with options for on the fly codec management.
