OK I made a mistake of buying an iMac in 02 and it was miserable for a number of years until it just died with all my music inside. Now I had a really old ipod with 20 GB with all the music loaded from my computer, this unit isn't at all useable with a PC and my 5 Gig Nano is mac formatted so I ripped all my songs onto an old G4 desktop at my dads house where it just sits. Here is the issue, is there a way to move the MP3's from his computer to mine without making copies of 100's of CD's i.e. Using the ethernet. THe machine dosen't have a wireless card but how would I set up a wired network between the 2 machines inorder to transfer the music or do I just have to make copies of the CD's, or is there and iPod ripping software that can extract musi from a mac ipod to a PC?

Your post is a little confusing. If you just want to transfer your music from your iPod to your computer I think there is a program called iDump or something. I saw it in the sticky for freewares for Windows. I have used it once before and it is very simple. All your songs on your iPod transfer to your computer.

You're going to wanna get a router, and plug both of them into it.
From there you can do a number of things.
1) If the router can get on the internet, you can use a program like AIM or Windows Live Messenger to send files (.zip or .rar it up so you don't drag-and-drop songs one at a time.)
2) Use a program to send files to each other (has to be Mac and PC obviously.)
3) Set up an FTP server on the PC (whether it be an standalone ftp program or IIS) and upload files from the G4 to the PC.
or
4) Set up an FTP server on the G4, put all the music in the FTP folder, and download from the PC.
There are probably many other better and faster ways to do it. But these I can think of off the top of my head (these methods are free too). Cuz there are cables you can buy that are made for plugging into two computers (don't know if it'd work with a Mac on one end and a PC on the other.
If you need any more help let me know.
