My t42's screen is dead, the memory is hosed too. The harddrive still works and I'd like to get some data off of it. Do they make external USB enclosures for laptop harddrives? If so, can i get a recommendation?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Oh yes, they make plenty of them. Go to NewEgg and search for 2.5" USB HDD Enclosures. Vantec is my personal favorite.

You could also get a USB to IDE cable and slave it to another machine to transfer the data

I got an IDE interface enclosure to the harddrive. I was assuming the harddrive in my 3 yr old T42 IBM Thinkpad was IDE....am I correct?

Most likely it is IDE - the T42's we have here at work are all IDE
