Since the standard font color of the right side of the vista start menu is white, it's really hard to read it when there's a light-colored background (see pic). Is there any way to change the color to black or some other darker color? I've been looking for a solution for a while but haven't come up with anything...so REP to anyone who knows how to change this color!

Try right click on desktop, personalize option, windows color and appearance, click open classic appearance properties for more color options, and there you have an advanced tab where you can change the color for many things like active windows, fonts, menu bars etc etc... See if that helps!! I guess this was something very familiar with XP. Hope it helps. Cheers.

Yeah I've tried this before but I can't find a way to change the colors in the start menu. Thanks anyway!

As far as I know it's quite troublesome to do that. That is the main reason that I never use light colour start menu. You can download the pdf guide here
