It keeps maximizing whenever i open a new MP3, this is really annoying as i just want it to stay in the taskbar.
This thing is what im talking about:

I want it to stay there even when i open a new MP3 from a folder.

Your link is broken. You need to copy the actual link, not how it's displayed on whatever blog/forum you got it from.
Edit - nevermind, I saw the original on your Anandtech post.
Have you done this?

Yeah thats the thing ive got, but it maximizes whenever i open a new MP3, i want it to just stay in the taskbar until i maximize it myself.

Pull up the properties sheet of the icon or shortcut that start iTunes.
Look for 'start minimized' in the Run section of the General info tab.
By default most proggy start in a 'normal window'. You can select minimized or maximized via the Properties sheet. -
That only affects the program's startup behavior, not the program's behavior when it is fed an external file from the OS.
I don't know of any way to fix this behavior since it is hard coded into iTunes. -
Bah i was afraid of that

While it will maximize, Windows will usually keep it from stealing focus.
I don't have iTunes on any of my machines here to test, so I don't know. -

uninstall it and use a better music player.
Yes Yes i know it's not really helpful.... But it is truly good advice non-the-less.

I completely agree.

Oh believe me ive installed and tried everything and theres always something missing that i just need. Ive tried absolutely everything and nothing works better for me than iTunes, it syncs with the ipod, has a good UI, integrates will into windows with drag+drop and the taskbar mini player. Im not really a big apple fan though as i wanted to switch to zune a while back so i could use windows media player, but windows 7 took out the taskbar mini player which i loved! You need to jump through hoops and install WMP 11 for that (god knows what you do when WMP13 comes out and your sitting there with a hacked WMP11 installed on windows 7) or have 32 bit WMP 12 and install some other hack to get taskbar miniplayer back, im on 64 bit so it dosent work, plus thats all irrelivent because i have to use "zune software" which i hate. I cant drag and drop from my music folder? ? Its made by microsoft but apples iTunes integrates better into windows than it does... Come on! Plus i find the UI to be an unintuitive mess. Its just pointless.. give me my WMP minibar thing and make the zune work with WMP... how did they screw this up so badly
Its like the divisions at microsoft just dont frickin communicate with eachother, like the zune division dosent know their company also makes an OS with a media player people are used to using
Sorry went on a bit of a rant there heh... I need a media player that has that a decent taskbar mini player (volume as well as play/forward buttons) and works with an MP3 player, plus has intelligent playlists and good playlist support in general. iTunes is the only game in town for me unfortunately. Im not getting another ipod but until zune gets their act together on the software front its itunes + old nano 4g/shuffle 2g for me. -

my advice still stands... though may i suggest throwing the ipod away and getting a sony walkman.
Drag and drop no software required is quite beautiful... it really is!
for media, try songbird. I don't use it because it works and looks like itunes... but people really seem to like it and it was made by the dude who created winamp back in the day.
*for the record i just use VLC for everything. -
There's no real conflict with the iPod... you can use iTunes to sync your iPod and still use another program to play music on your computer... although as far as which programs (if any) have a taskbar-based toolbar that works the way you'd like, I'm not sure.
How do i force itunes to stay minimized?
