I came to Lenovo Thinkpads because of the anti-glare screens, but I've come to love the Trackpoint. The rubber red finger joystick is my favorite form of mouse control, above physical mice and any multitouch pad. I know...it's a rare opinion, I find.

But let me defend myself. While the original argument for point sticks is that they let you keep your hands at the keyboard while you're mousing--good for touch typists like myself--for me, it's all about Trackpoint scrolling.

On Thinkpads, when I press down the center button below the trackpoint, the trackpoint scrolls the web page, not just up and down, but side to side. It's incredibly convenient, because it lets me control the web page almost without moving my hand at all. From a laziness viewpoint, that's even better than touch screen.

Now please, don't throw things at me. I'm a smartphone user and will probably get a Transformer Prime tablet, so I like multitouch. But Trackpoint scrolling is officially my favorite hardware feature on Thinkpads.

So: these other business-class laptops that have pointing sticks, the HP Elitebooks and Dell Precisions, do they let you scroll by using only the point stick? Or after spending a few thousand on one of them, will I be heartbroken to find out that they don't?
