    How do you use IZArc?

I find IZArc messy and difficult to use. There are no clear guidelines. I don't know where to go. There are SO many selections, tools, and options.

For example, I had a video exe file. So I put it in IZArc. The best thing I could think of was to click the Extract button. Then a small window opened with a number of options that made no sense to me ( Confirm File Overwrites, Restore Original Folders, Restore File Attributes); but no options about what type of file is needed. I just let it be as pre-selected, and clicked Extract. After some fumbling I finally ended up with two files, a zip and avi. Neither showed picture, although both had sound. What did I do wrong?

A video exe file? Where did you get that from? Chances are you got a malicious application instead of a movie, which would explain why it isn't extracting properly. Either that, or you got a self extracting archive, which would extract if you double clicked on it.

Also, cross posting is not allowed on NBR, so refrain from posting the same thread in other forums.

Sorry, that was not my intention. I posted, and thought my post had disappeared, so I did it again. The first must have ended in another forum by mistake, I don't even know in which one it is.

The file is so old now that I am not sure if it started as an exe, zip or avi. All I know is that I now have three files, and that none work. Can IZArc make anything more out of them, that could work?

You will have to provide more information about the file (such as it's name and extension, and possibly source if you remember) in order for anyone to answer that.

What exactly do you have and what exactly do you want to do? there are always better alternatives.

Actually I think it was a RAR file from the beginning. In the end I both an exe, avi, and a zip.

I can't find any more details about it in Properties.

I want it to play in Windows media player.

Mostly I wonder about how to use IZArc in general. Do you just put a file in IZArc and click Extract, or do you have to be more specific? Do you have to specify what kind of file you want (what you want to use it for), and if so, where in the IZArc window do you specify this?
