ok i just bought a new laptop that comes with win7 premium, but when i go to school at the end of the month i can get ultimate for free.

my question is, is it worth upgrading? and how hard would it be to do it?

    7 Home Premium?
What is it that you think upgrading to Ultimate would get you over Home Premium that would be useful?

I dont think its very hard... Probably very straightforward, i mean, microsoft wants to make money so they wouldnt make the upgrading process a mess... Just assuming..

If you can get it for free, then why not install Ultimate. Upgrading is very simple.

If you're getting it for free, then free is good. The process itself goes like this:

Right click on the computer icon and select properties. The window will open and you'll see a line under Windows edition that says "Get more features with a new edition of Windows 7". Click on that, and select "Enter an upgrade key". Input your Ultimate key and the Ultimate features will be unlocked. You don't have to reinstall anything and in a few minutes, the os will be upgraded to Ultimate.

I have upgraded to Ultimate(also free) and the only usueful difference that I have seen is that I can change languages almost on the fly.Other than that it's like using my old home premium edition. If I had to pay it definitely wouldn't worth the extra money.
