Early predictions were that battery life would decrease with vista, due to increased demand on resources.
For those running vista, how are you finding your battery life?
-
Without using Aero, I found my battery life to be much the same. However, turning on Aero dropped my battery life by about 20 minutes.
-
I think that is very similar to switching graphics to battery saving with ATI/nvidia's tools or with NHC. When you go into the Vista Mobility Center and turn it to battery saving mode, it works much like NHC and saves you battery life. However, turning it to balanced does cut time because you need that graphics power to run Aero.
I'm seeing about 15-20 mins difference too. -
rtm stock & xp home (flyakite desktop) [tested with ff surfing, open.org office running in parallel] = not so much of a difference, fluctuation of 10-15 min, could go any other way
on both partititons: indexing is off, internet access cable direct
when using wifi built in , however, vista battery usage takes a good hit 20-30 min less
when using wifi via pcmcia, then it is not so bad, back to almost normal
cheers ... -
I think its about the same for me.
-
My friends Toshiba gets 30-40 mins less battery life because of Aero.
-
Mines is basically the same with or without aero. Give or take 10min.
