A few years ago when I was in grad school I bought this nice package via download (although I think it was $70 then). I am thinking of getting a second laptop but have no idea how to get this program onto it. Does anyone know how to make a disc or discs? I assume that this is kosher?

    Thanks.

Whether you are allowed to depends on the license - I can't tell you that off the top of my head...

You may not need a disc if you have an .exe file though

The Office 2010 Beta comes as an .exe file and needs no CD.

Just copy the exe file to your laptop and start the installation. If you want to make a backup of the setup file, burn it to a CD.

OK, I got a new computer for my wife (A HP Pavilion dm3...the snazzy little metal one). Now how do I get my copy of Office Ultimate onto it? I'm not sure how to locate the exe file...what happens if I just copy the whole thing onto a flashdrive, then copy it onto her computer? Will that install it?

I do still have the Product Key.

No, it will not install it. If you still have the product key, you can get a CD replacement from Microsoft, for, I believe, a small cost.

You could alternatively Google for the installer .exe for Office 2007 Ultimate, and then use your product key.

Or, you could find the original installer executable file you downloaded as part of the Ultimate Steal deal to install it again.

    Thanks.

Where would I find the original installer exec file? I might have deleted that long ago...oops.

I'm not sure if the first would work as I am no longer a student and it is part of that "Ultimate Steal" deal.

When you install programs it copies certain files into other system folder then the folder the app is being installed to.

If I recall correctly, the offer for Office Ultimate allowed you to install the software on 1 desktop, and 1 portable machine.
