I am thinking of buying Office 2007. How many licenses does it come with? That is, how many machines can I put it on? Thanks.

home and student, comes with 3, others with 1
Used to be that office could be installed on 2--a laptop and desktop, but they removed that way back in office 2000, I think -

While I generally don't have a problem with the concept of licensing IP - if you own it, you can say what gets done with it - but I'm just wondering exactly how Microsoft is going to police whether or not that second installation on a "portable" device is, or is not, "for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy."
That is so full of spaces to drive trucks through, that Microsoft has essentially and in practical effect granted two licenses that basically just have to cohabit. -
well slap my mouth and call me happy--I have been laboring under a big misconception for a long time now.
Thanks for the correction, fellas. -
hmm. I remember buying MS Office 2007 Home and Student for Mac OS X. Came with 3 or 4 licenses. Can't Exactly remember. But I think the number of licenses you get with the Mac version is different.

I just installed MS Office 2007 on my desktop, I previously had it on my laptop but didn't know that I could install it on two systems. Activated and works just fine!

Thanks guys. I think the Student and Home version should be the right fit for me. The 3 licenses are really helpful. I wish the Student and Home version came with Access also, but I can see why they didn't include it; most home users aren't going to create a database I guess.

so on one side, there is the legal terms in the eula. but on the technical side, i don't think they query much to check if you do something illegal with your one or two times used license. it would be very complicated, pissing customers off, and in the end, no real gain for them.
How many licenses does MS Office come with?
