With the Dell we have (Vista Premium 32bit), since SP1 we have never had it blue screen
With my old HP desktop 7 years and the only blue screen was from bad graphics drivers (my dads fault)
With my schools Toshiba (Vista Enterprise 32bit), it blue screens all the time (had one this morning even), but I am getting it several times a week.
What is your experience?

In my entire life, I believe I have had less than 5.
-
With my new Asus G51, about a dozen times, but that was due to me over enthusiastically trying to overclock it to the limits rather than any problems with the laptop.
What I learned: don't start by going from 2.0Ghz to 2.5Ghz with your brand new laptop.
What I also learned: don't just drop it only down to 2.48Ghz if 2.5Ghz gave you instant BSODs.
With my old desktop, however, too many to count. Well over a 100 since it had a whole host of hardware and software issues. I once attempted to fix it but gave up once I started realizing how much time it would take. It still runs half decently, but it has a ton of quirks and is quick to go BSOD on me. -
A couple of times when trying to figure out how to use the utility to sign drivers for 64-bit Windows..
-
I've never had a Blue Screen on _Vista, RTM or SP1. On XP I had a number of Blue Screens from a wanky driver for a network adapter.
-
I am a BSOD veteran; however since I switched to vista a few years back the number has been greatly reduced. The last BSOD I saw came a few weeks back when I was trying to test how low I could carry the voltage while undervolting.
On XP I used to get them several times a week and sometimes I wasn't doing anything special. I would be typing a document in word or browsing the internet or listening to music and then BAM BSOD, it was just ridiculous how unstable XP installs can become over time. -
I get one every so often, usually caused by an nVIDIA graphics driver issue. None over the past 31 days in XP Home or XP x64, however, which has been my primary operating system by a huge margin. Late May is probably the most recent one in XP. Did get one in the very limited time (< 5 hours) that I ran Windows 7 in the past month, though - seemed to have been related to an instability in Virtual PC 2009 (or whatever the new version is called) Beta.
Overall Windows 6.x (_Vista + 7) gave me more BSODs than XP, but it probably would have been closer to even had I not had an nVIDIA graphics card with _Vista SP0. Windows 98 had far more than either XP or Vista (without even the benefit of an nVIDIA card!). For the overall count, it was well above anything worth counting back when I was a wee lad thanks to Windows 95/98. -
I had one after a clean install of Vista for some reason on my new SXPS 16.
With my dad's Toshiba: None
Mom's: None
Desktop: None
So I've had one in my life -
SpacemanSpiff Everything in Moderation
No blue screens with either XP or Vista (but my Vista media center desktop does occasionally irreversibly lock-up, requiring I pull the plug).
Back in the Windows 95 era, I had blue screens all the time. -
Since XP SP3 and Vista SP2, I don't believe I've had ANY.

Three, on my MSI GT735. That I got this week.
All from overclocking/undervolting XD -
used to think "blue screen" is one of XP hidden "wall paper / screen saver" poppin out once in a while..but since i shifted to vista..i had it only once ..when i screwed up my AV n some trojans decided to make me run the recovery disc ..
no blue screen anymore.. -
On Vista, a total of once among all the Vista machines I've used, and it was my stupid mistake due to over-eager tweaking.
On XP, countless times. -
I got them frequently in Windows 2000 and earlier. Very few since then. (I did have some issues with Server 08, but that turned out to be caused by valid reasons.)
-
All the time for win 95 and 98, less than once every 2 months for XP, just once
(in 2+ years) for Vista. -
I've probably had less than 10, maybe a few more, but you understand about 5 of those were all the same issue, when I was trying to reinstall Vista and a troublesome update kept screwing it up.
Well, actually I definitely had a few more than 10, since I had at least 3 for the same thing while trying to do an F6 install of XP on my desktop build. -
Far too many...
When I got my Vaio on the default factory instal Kaspersky made trouble... using the restore discs though, all is well... then graphics drivers in Vista.. I think that's the "key bit"... else, overal its pretty stable.
XP - god knows how many - just way too many... -
On this computer, I think once, I'm even doubting it. I had lots of BSoD's on my old computer (500MHz AMD lol.) on Win98.
On an old PC we had, I think around 50, but mostly due to driver, OS install, hard drive and dust problems. -

so far, one bluescreen that was not my fault on vista. and it was because of some stupid soundcard driver i guess.
what i do have (same reason), are lockups of the sound driver. and they force me to do a hard reset, as i somehow can't reset that driver. -
I see this god damn thing every day, it's my screensaver by default hehe
-
Windows XP (desktop), never.
Vista Ult. 32 (Laptop), just once (I think it was due to the wireless card). -
-
-
On my Vista (64, HomePrem) desktop, once when Premiere Elements 7 exploded all over my system. And once more with a real strange power driver screwup.
Not one on my laptop.
As seen in this thread... Vista is rather stable, eh? Where are the bashers, eh?
It's just knowing what you're doing, like fonduekid says.
But don't talk to me about the 9x days. Also, quite a few Mac users seem to be stuck in that mentality. -

Interestingly, in my short times of using macs, i got them to crash more often than vista so far, which runs daily for hours in my case (and i have strange and rather crazy usecases for the os).
well, if i don't count the times i have to reboot because of the mess with the soundcard driver -
Using Vista, never had BSOD, though using RMClock with too low voltages caused complete freeze a few times, until I gave up on undervolting, now stable as a bank. (oh hang on, not such a good analogy)
-
My Sager is invincible. It never has and never will have a BSOD.
-
Maybe 5 total in the last 10 years.
-
Only one, I think. It happened when I disconnected a USB flash drive that I used for ReadyBoost.
(I remembered that I "safely removed hardware" for that flash drive...)
-
Several in XP (for seemingly random reasons), and twice in Vista (from a corrupted update). In the case with Vista, a simple system repair/restore was all it took fix it. With XP, it often required a reinstall of XP.
I have not had a blue screen using W7 yet *knock on wood*. -
Plenty with XP over the years, some with Vista and none sofar with Win7 (will they become nostalgia?
) .
With XP, most due to wiggly drivers and OC'ing, the rest (XP&Vista) because of dirt cheap factory-default ram sticks that would go mental above 65/70 degrees C. -
none so far in Vista, a couple in XP..
-
only a few in vista that I didn't cause
XP = hourly BSOD's why? haven't a clue. Vista was amazingly stable after XP, if it wasn't I would have switched to Mac.
I also have the BSOD as my screensaver! (you be amazed how many people freak out and say "See! that's what Vista does"... hehe, then I get to crush them by pressing the space bar... ) -
None ever since I installed Vista SP2 and updated a few Dell drivers on my desktop. With Vista SP1, I had a high reliability so really it's been smooth sailing for me for the longest time now. I can't look at XP anymore without feeling sick, but at work I'm forced to stick with it "for just a little while longer", at least until Windows 7 hits the scene.
-
never had a BSOD on any windows OS during my time using computers.
-
With Vista? None. Well, except for when my NVIDIA GPU died.
XP? Every now and then I guess over the years.
Win98, baby? haha.. yeee -
lol in the last 2 days in setting up the new desktop for max overclocked speeds id say prob 50 or more...lol but not windows fault it me trying to do over 4.5 on air with a i7... just to hot
-
Everytime I stick my Verizon wireless usb device in with Vista...no problem if in when I boot up or any time with Windows 7. BSOD trying to run crucial memory scanner. Hey! for all you BSOD virgins out there, try it!
-
All my blue screens are from overclocking. I usually get lame problems like having to rejoin my computer to the domain.
-
Once since I got Windows 7, right after I closed Crysis >.>
-
windows 98 --- more than 100 time
windows me--- more than 200 time
windows vista --- 1 year and less than 8 times -
Why is this so frequent for some users?
I've only had it once because of the some Firewall that wasn't uninstalled properly. Solely by fault. -
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
I haven't BSOD in months. If anything about 2-3 times a year, usually because of a messed up driver install.
-
the 8 times i got BSOD in vista , was when i was over clocking my GPU
-
XP Home has been fairly stable, not much in the way of driver BSODs it seems. Every blue moon I get a blue screen and then when I boot back up, 'The system has recovered from a serious error' (yay!). Like some of you said, though, Win98 was a different story..
-
my desktop had zero BSOD since i built it 2 months ago
it has vista too! -
Since Xp users bluescreen for a few reasons:
1)Silly people who downloaded and executed Malware
2)Old outdated/Wrong/buggy Drivers
3)Tweaking CPU/GPU/RAM Voltage/Frequencies
4)Silly people who download and install lots of redundant software i.e Firewire, Antivirus resulting in incompatibilities and conflicts.
They usually think the more the merrier thus they get more and merrier BSODS
5)Smart Alecs who delete System Files thinking they are not required. -
None since Vista.
5-10 times in 9 years using XP on an Pentium 4 based system.
By the way, I've just had 3 systems in my entire life: 486, a Pentium 4 and the laptop in my signature. There are many of you wich have had 3 systems just in one year... -
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
a lot, but most of those were my fault.
Usually from playing with the ram timmings or overclocking the FSB and also undervolting.
I don't think vista ever gave the the BSOD unless I was playing with something. -
Only once on my laptop, undervolting it. Raised it by two units and it runs fine
How many times have you blue screened?
