I have Firefox 2 and IE 7 on my computer. I used to have Opera for a while, but I got rid of it because I don't use it.

Right, same with Opera. I use Opera and I.E. for non-opera capable browsing and my girlfriend uses firefox, so I have three!

Does anyone know why firefox would not log in correctly to a forum when it's been bumped from the default browser? My girlfriend couldn't log in to a forum today on her account on my laptop. She put the username and password and got the page saying thanks for logging in, then it just went back to the login page...

Firefox 2.0 and IEtab extension (for non-standard or lame ActiveX sites).

Thats all you need. Screw Microsoft Internet Explorer.

I have IE7, FF2 and Netscape on both XP & Vista. I don't like Opera, even tho it's fast.

It's not smart to depend on IE. If IE folds on you, then you would either have to load another browser form disc or reinstall windows. Giving if restore doesn't work or fix the problem.

You should probably modify the Poll to read:

How many browser(s) installed other than IE.. which is always pre-installed.

    -or-

Which browser do you use mainly?

Assuming one is using Windows as as main OS. What about OSX or linux users?

That's not what I want to know. For that I can just check the latest which browser do you use or similar thread. What I want to know is how many browsers other people have installed and for what reasons/applications. As such my question is worded suitably.

A lot of people prefer different browsers like Firefox or Opera for most of their browsing, however some web usage cannot be done on browsers other than I.E. such as windows update, some plugins such as wmp and chat clients etc.

Personally I have I.E. for things that will only work on I.E. (as explained above), Opera for my own personal preference for browsing and Firefox as my girlfriend is used to it and uses it on my laptop.

The IEtab extension still uses Internet Explorer, it just embeds the window into the firefox window. :p
So you must still have IE installed.

Epiphany and Firefox 2.0. Never use epiphany even though it's a bit more lightweight than FF... I'm pretty sure it's just a GTK2 wrapper for the GECKO engine anyway, I just like some of the Firefox extensions.

I guess I use IE7 too when I need to use a different computer without FF installed.

I have only two web browsers installed. Internet Explorer 7 and Maxthon. I tried FireFox for awhile, and hated it. Fortunately, I found Maxthon, or I'd still be using Internet Explorer as my primary browser.

    But I only use FF2.

I've got IE 7, Firefox, and Opera.

I pretty much use Opera exclusively, and occasionally open IE-only websites (jerk web devs) with IE. I used to use Firefox for sites that wouldn't work in Opera, but I haven't found any of those lately.

IE 7 for windows update and uni use (off site intranet ccess and online law resources like westlaw etc)
    FF 2* for everything else

*Everything renders faster, especially video which sometimes in IE won't even start. Also more logical layout than copy-clone IE

and e-mail clients can browse, but only thru links I think.

    I have 3 installed: Firefox 2, Opera 9, IE 6
What I use is a different story: FF2, and on occasion Opera. I only have IE b/c I can't get rid of it, and just in case there is any non-compatible site. Usually when I get on IE it crashes on me anyway.

    Two: IE and FF.

I'm not sure you can uninstall IE, it's like integrated into the kernel or something.

I usually use K-Meleon (my favourite so far) or Mozilla (my default).

However, sometimes I also use avant, opera, ie7.

I also tried Maxthon, Slim browser and Green browser, but I found them rather slow. I still have them installed to give them a chance on rare occasions.
However, I think I will uninstall them soon.

I have quite a few on my Macbook.

Safari, Firefox 2 (Bon Echo), OmniWeb, Shirra, Camino and Opera.

Safari for normal use, Firefox 2 because it works with most webpages, Opera for school because it's set up with the proxy and OmniWeb, Camino and Shirra are just there incase I feel like a change.

I have two installed - Internet Explorer 7 + Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.1 w/ IE Tab. I rarely ever open IE itself; I simply use IETab.
Perhaps Download Statusbar would fix some problems:

Anyways, I'm updating my answer. I have three browsers installed, IE7, Firefox 2 and Opera. I only really use Firefox, and occasionally IE7, but I have all three because I design websites so I want to be able to check browser compatibility myself
