I only have Internet Explorer and Mozilla. I mainly use Mozilla but use IE only when I need to.
-
FF2 for everyday stuff and IE7 for windows update.
-
I just use Mozilla. I'm addicted to all of the plugins and of course the tabbed browsing.
-
IE7 and FF2
-
Mozilla,IE7,Firefox, and Opera9.......I was cosidering getting saffari but got hooked on Opera.
Having more than one browser is useful since not all web sites that I visit accept my main browser(opera). -
Only 2. Firefox 2 as default and IE 6 as backup....
-
Firefox and IE. I use FF mainly
-
I use IE7 for forms and compatibility. FF2 for everyday browsing ( www.portableapps.com never have to use anything else!!) and Opera to go through my university's proxy for accessing journals and books. -
Just one - IE7. Primarily for compatibility reasons (and the desire to keep the OS as clean as possible in terms of cookies, cache, etc.). The vanilla IE7 isn't much to write about, but throw in IE7pro and it it becomes a bearable experience.
I miss Firefox's add-ons and tabbed browsing, but not enough for me to have two separate programs to surf the Internet -
Sneaky_Chopsticks Notebook Deity
IE 7, Firefox 2, Opera
-
Well if you have anything other than IE you pretty much have to have two right? I mean the only way to not have IE is not be using Windows.
So I'm on two... firefox for most things, but then IE for the few sites I have to use for work that don't accept anything other than IE. -
K-Meleon really rocks. It uses Mozilla FF2 engine, but is a lot more lighter. I compare the memory usage for IE6 and Mozilla FF2, which is around 35MB, and K-Meleon is only around 20MB.
And I haven't met any website that won't open render everything well on KMeleon yet.
I heard Opera is lightweight too, but I have never try that. Although I heard that Opera sometimes won't open a certain webpage. -
I have both Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2. However, I've only had IE7 in the past because I was not entirely sure that I could trust IETab to play IE's role. Now, however, I think I can, so I'll be uninstalling IE7.
So I guess you could say I only have Firefox 2 installed.
Matt -
How do you uninstall IE?
-
IE7 and and the latest firefox available with a number of addons for the latter
sweet spot for me at the moment -
f4ding I think you should still keep IE around for windows update and some sites that still are IE only. The IE-extension for firefox is not 100%. Saying that, does remove windows components work for IE? I know it does for MSN, as I've removed that
Wonder when there will be an IE update. For some reason FF is definitely noticeably faster than IE, though that is faster than Opera still. Really strange, don't know why -
Intenet Explorer 7 Vista and Mozilla Firefox 2.
If i had a choice i'd only run IE7 Vista, but then it's not compatible with some sites i visit, so i have to use Firefox 2. -
Edit: Hold on, that's not right. Try this:
1) Go to the Control Panel
2) Open Add or Remove Programs
3) Select Windows Internet Explorer 7
4) Click Remove
5) Go through the removal process
Matt -
I use three atm, but only one for regular use. IE, FF and a new one I am trying out: Maxthon. Looking more into K-Meleon, thanks for the tip!
-
FF, IE6, Opera, Konqueror, SeaMonkey, Links, elinks
-
I use a few browsers for my daily need...
1) Maxthon (former known as MyIE 2)
2) Firefox 2
3) Opera 9
4) Internet Explorer
5) Iopus Internet Browser
every browser has their own use... but IE n Opera i use really seldom... Maxthon, Firefox n Iopus internet browser is my daily browsers...
but my main browser is Maxthon... used it for years already... since MyIE 2... n till now... after they changed their name already...so far so good...
-
IE7 and FireFox 2. only
-
Firefox (minefield 3.0pre5)
Opera when the FF nightly breaks something or when I get tired of the FF interface.
IE7 for those sites where I can't afford to have the website suddenly realize it's not compatible with Opera or FF in the middle of a transaction. -
-
cause i see there are different functions in every browser, eventho the base is from IE... they do have the IE features... but they have their own features too... Just because they are so called wrapper like you wrote... it is the same as IE... okay i need to take note on that... but i just want to explain a lil bit more...
for Iopus... i use it for gaming because of the recording function they have... Which i dont think IE have it... n some more scripting function where i can write my script using the Iopus scripting edition... but if you say that it will be considered as IE... then what else i can say... as you said... Just because they use the IE settings n have the IE features... then it will be considered IE... at least thats what i understand from your statement...
But i said it is 5 because from my understanding... if the software is based from other software but they have additional different features, and different way of controlling the software... then its not the same software...cause they do "borrow" some features from IE... cookies, internet setting, etc... but the way they control it.. look different for me... so i consider it as different browser...
but everyone have their own interpretation... which i respect...
sorry for long reply... -
I completely agree with Pitabred. A lot of web browsers use IE's rendering engine, which basically makes it an IE-knock off. Sure, you could consider it a new browser, but really it's not.
Making a browser using IE's rendering engine is extremely easy. Heck, I've made several, although I never fully completed or released them.
Matt -
okay fare enough... i'm not here to argue about something which i think not really important...
after all... if you buy a car with the same system from other brand... you still didn't call that car the other brand..
i just want you guys to see this in bigger scope... but its okay... like i said... i do respect you guys as i'm new here even if i'm old here... everyone has their opinion...
then you can cut down the count to 3... no problem at all for me... -
If I drive a Chevy half-ton truck, and you drive a GMC half-ton, the only differences are that they've got different badges on the grille and different interiors. That's the difference between most of those wrappers and the "base" Internet Explorer. That doesn't mean the wrappers are worthless, or don't give you functionality... it's just that they aren't different in any architectural or system-wise sense. They all still use the same rendering engine (the bit of code that actually figures out how to display a web page). They just add on different buttons.
-
i guess im another one that has got Firefox 2 and IE7
-
so cheers to you... i already said... just count it as 3.... n i hope you satisfied with that....
btw...so you do call GMC half-ton truck as Chevy then is it? -
Also, has anybody tried Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition (free at Microsoft website), and go through the first tutorial? LOL. The reason I brought it up is because the first tutorial teaches you to create YOUR OWN web browser. LOL. Not fully functional, but you can browse a lot of sites including yahoo, and it even displays Flash properly. I think it fails JavaScript. -
Firefox 2.x and IE7 (because I can't remove it) on the Windows partition
Firefox 2.x, Opera, Epiphany, elinks, and Konqueror on the Linux partition.
(edit: forgot elinks) -
Matt -
One internet browser. It all goes down to how well the website is and its content.
-
I have only IE7 in my Vista system. In my XP machine, I have Opera (the best) and IE7.
-
I have IE7, Opera and Firefox on both XP and Vista. Each are needed IMO.
-
Same as everyone else...FF2 and IE7
-
Same here - FF2 and IE7.
Firefox is my main browser, and I use Internet Explorer for a couple of websites that Firefox isn't too keen on. Even if I didn't need IE for those sites, I'd still want keep it as a backup; I just wouldn't be comfortable relying on only one browser.
-
Firefox, Opera and IE7. Firefox is really what I use, and opera just in case something goes wrong with firefox.
IE? shrugs. -
I have FF 2.0 and IE6. (Old desktop) I only use FF and so does everyone else in the house. So i put one.
-
After seeing the number of folks that use Opera, I decided to try it and I must say I am majorly surprised. Simple to install and it saved all my FF bookmarks
It appears to load pages much faster then on both FF and IE.
Also the biggest difference for me is the display image. The pages are much sharper in detail....
I don't have the greater resolution on my T40 and was thinking about getting a new LCD, but with the pix quality of Opera I may holdup on that...
Some very good features also, speed dial in particular
I plan to put Opera thru its paces this week, but looks like I may be changing over browsers......Thanks for the headsup, Opera users -
Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 6.5, Opera, Gran Paradiso (aka Firefox 3 alpha), and Safari for Windows, in order of how often I use them.
Opera would be my #1 browser if not for display problems on another forum I frequent...oh well, Firefox is adequate.
I'm surprised there's so few with 5+...I thought a good number of people here would at least want to try a bunch of different options.
I actually have 6 browsers if you count the Yahoo browser I have that's a shell over IE 6. It came with my Internet and looks a little better than IE, but the real benefit is that it gave IE 6 tabbed browsing - no need to update to IE 7 now! -
Intenet Explorer 7 Vista and Mozilla Firefox 2.
-
I have on my XP .....
IE7
FireFox2 (the KING of add-on/extensions)
Opera9 (Speed Dial is AWESOME!!)
AOL Explorer 1.5 (A HUGE Improvement for AOL)
Safari Beta (Nice, but not finished)
Netscape 9 (almost identical to FireFox, but renders pages better and faster, also able to use some FireFox extensions) -
firefox 2 (British English), and IE7 (from International English Windows Vista - although I noticed that it used american spellings)
-
I voted 1, because I sure as hell didn't install IE. Firefox 2 all the way.
-
I got FF and Opera, using IE, which doesn't count
-
i use Opera 9.2 mainly, and the IE 7 is there, which i hardly use. so two for me.
-
Two installed.
IE and Firefox with some plug ins.
But I use only FF. -
IE7 for vista and latest version of firefox. I tend to switch between the two pretty often.
How many web browsers do you have installed?
