    But 10-15 seems a bit high; I had Vista Business taking up about 10.

    Certain people just don't like wasting resources.
    As for the dual/triple boot, yes that would be my case.
    Moreover I like to keep things nicely separeted: the bare OS on one partition, the OS data on another, the installed programs on another one too, and then have one partition for the documents I produce (those who need to be backed up frequently), one for the pictures and one for the big files (such as the temporary images created by backup utilities).

    Advantages: more robust system, ease of recovery, fast defrag, more efficience (this last one is debatable).

    Having 15 GB occupied by the bare OS is an insane waste of resources.
