I'm trying to setup some new partitions in my new 80 gig hard drive. I"m reinstalling windows when it comes, and i want to put the actual windows files on a seperate partition by its self. What do you guys suggest i make that? is 5 gigs enough? i really have no idea....

You should have at least 10gb for XP. Depending on your programs/software/games, you should have more. You aren't going to gain anything by having XP on its own partition and your software on another partition. If you have to reformat, you'll have to install all of that again.

My 80 gig HDD, whose actual size is around 74, as usual, has two partitions. I left 14 gig for Windows XP and programs i need to install. The other 60 gig partition is for audio, video, data files and games. If a format and reinstall process is necessary games have to be reinstalled, sure. But somehow i feel not messing that much with the system partition helps keeping my computer as fast as it can perform. And data is in a safer place, of course.
Cheers.
How much space does windows need?
