you don't need to use the floppy.

just go into BIOS, set the CD rom as the first boot device, insert winXP CD.. and you're set.

spets is right, with the original XP installation disk, you can boot from the CD if your BIOS is set to boot from CD. I'm not sure if it is the case with the window XP upgrade disk or not.

If you have both, it is my most strenuous option that you DO NOT INSTALL ME! It is literally one of the worst OSs imaginable. It is unstable in alomst any environment.

I 2nd what the reverend said, even microsoft was quick to drop ME, if possible just stick with XP. Even if the win98 cd boots like the XP disk does, it is not as easy as installing XP. XP is a breeze, it does everything for you but 98 will make you look for and find every driver you need and it will be much more drawn out process.

I need to ask some questions here :D

    1. what are the differences between installing window XP in laptop and desktop?

    2. do we have to install wirefire software and other stuff?

    3. why I hear that we need some "drivers" to install window XP in laptop? Are they for "wirefire and stuff" that I asked above?

Thank you for answering my silly questions :D

Don't be too hard on ME, afterall that's the OS that came with System Restore. ME was fine. I had no problems.

So, you mean when I finish installing window XP, it already comes with wirefire and ready to use? If so, where you go to turn it on?

    BTW, thank you.
