    Hi folks,

I wonder if there is a solution to this problem ... this issue is on a computer that I have no Admin Rights … I am just low level User.

When I did have Admin Rights I happen to install some Freeware Programs that were as their Authors say … “buggy” … well I don’t understand why these guys right their program to have “Shell” capability.

Anyway, these 2 programs in question have been removed from my Hard Drive and I in my wisdom deleted the Register Keys for them under “RegEdit” … but I don’t know where the “Loose Commands” are that I still have the darn things in my Shell …

When I right-click on the Start button I get the following Picture ... see attached.

Q: How can I remove the 2 entries circled in RED? As a local user!!! Can this be done!?!?

    Thanks,

    G! :)

You need to remove those items from the context menu in the registry. Try this article and see if it's of any help.

Why should that be any concern of yours? If someone feels that there's something private on an image that they'd rather not publicly display, then it's their privilege to blot that something out.

I'm allowed to be concerned about anything I want, just like him. I am wondering what could possibly be so sensitive, he can tell me he doesn't want to say and that's that, but it frustrates me when people are overly paranoid over nothing. As far as I can tell, it's not even possible to have anything private there.

You're also entitled to debate how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, but that doesn't entitle you to dragoon everyone else into the debate. Since you can, in fact, customize the text that shows up on a context menu, you could very well have a context menu line item that happened to contain, e.g., your real name - something I most certainly would not want exposed on NBR.

To get more speculative, it might also be something that the poster would be embarrassed to have the general public know he was once interested in, like www.angelsdancingontheheadofapin.org, or what have you. It might even have been something political - since the forums are supposed to be apolitical (other than the one specific, dedicated forum), perhaps the poster was just following the spirit of the forum rules and removing some political slogan? Who knows? It's still no skin off your nose if he chooses to hide it, whatever it is.

maybe he's seen first row of Hep!'s signature and got scared. ;) [/kidding]

there may be tons of reasons, for example being an employee of the software vendor and not wanting to break the forum rules with promotion, or whatever. remember, curiosity killed the cat. - but still, try and tell the cat... :)
