    How to Run CHKDSK?

    you can also run chkdsk in read only mode.

    1. Open cmd as administrator
    2. type: chkdsk
    for more commands: chkdsk /?

    I tried google, but I actually got multiple different results on different ways to run it, so I wasn't sure on which method to use, but thanks.

    Well if you have UAC enabled (like you should!) then yes, you will need administrator privileges to run chkdsk.

    So go to Start and then start typing "command prompt" until the shortcut shows up in the search list. Then right click on it and choose "Run as Administrator". Choose to confirm or type in your password to elevate the process.

    Then you can run chkdsk from the elevated command prompt without problems.

    Desktop > My Computer > Select the Disk / Partition > Right Click > Properties > Tools > Error Checking > Check Now
