I know this is an option on Linux and OSX, that the screen brightness lowers automatically after a minute or so of inactivity. A pretty good way to save some batterytime on laptops without having to adjust the brightness manually by pressing F7+[some button]. Is this possible in Windows XP?
EDIT: It's a program I'm searching for (since there's not an option in Windows which allows you to do so, I think(?)).

hm.. i could code up a screensaver for doing this.. hmhm.. i have adjusted screensettings for brightness by code before, so it would be doable. only under vista, though, oops.
just read now you want it in xp. in xp, there is no generic API for screens to adjust brightness, afaik. so it would be vendor specific, and i don't know of a vendor who creates such a program.
one thing would be, to invoke the hotkeys automatically in a screensaver, that'll possibly do the trick. -

Will try it asap. -
The .pyw-file works super! Exactly what I wanted.
Thanks a lot for the link, vinumsv! -
Alternatively you can use the dimming screensaver (power dimmer). Works for Vista

it's not actually dimming the screen light,
it just darkens the pixels on the entire screen, it's not saving battery life..
