For some reason, my documents has a picture folder setting. My Pictures is a normal folder. My Music has a video folder setting. How can I change this? I can't use the customize folder option. Thanks

That option is only available for normal folders, not special folders. And it's not the icon that needs changing, it's the folder settings. Like I wanna have My Pictures folder show in filmstrip, but I can't because it's now a normal folder, and I can't change it to have a picture folder setting.

And now my C:\ directory seem to have a music folder setting. Can't change that back either. What's going on here?

Do you have in mind the way your files look or the shortcut of the folder itself (the folder icon)?
If it is the first, then from the View menu you can select whether or not the folder will display like a filmstrip (My Videos and My Pictures usually are in Filmstrip mode by default)

Edit: Sorry, saw your last post after I posted

No no. The problem is with the special folders. My Pictures which is as you mention usually are in filmstrip mode, is not. There's no option for that. It's just a normal folder. They don't have the usual picture background. Picture tasks on the side. It's just a normal folder. My Documents on the other hand, has that setting that My pictures has. And I have no way to change it because there's no option to customize for special folders.

No. As I have already mentioned, it's a special folder. I don't know about your's, but mine does not have that customize tab. It is only available on normal folders.

There's one thing in the Registry called Shell Folders. There are all these special folders (it can be found in a couple of places in the registry). I understand what you mean and I thing the answer is in these shell folders..

It seems that all Shell Folders does is to relocate the special folders path. All of them seems to be in the right place where it should be.

Does anyone know why this even happens? It happened to my old laptop and desktop as well.

Windows has issues with saving settings (that is why it spends so much time when you shutdown). If the installations is old, then errors appear due to the restricted space Windows has for folder settings (the Tweak utility had some info about it, I think there was a restriction for upto 150 folder settings). Generally, a reinstall should fix this as the Registry gets some fresh air and order.
I don't know why Microsoft does not have a patch for this. I have the same problem but I hadn't noticed it before you posted.
