I have been thinking of creating a new partition but dont know how to. Right now I just have a C drive, so I'd like to know how I can partition it to create a D drive. I assume the procedure is the same for all Windows OS, at least for Vista/XP. Thanks in advance.

In XP you couldn't shrink or break up your partition unless the drive was empty or you used third party software like Partition Magic. Windows Vista, however, added the ability to resize partitions from within the Disk Management tool. Here is an article with instructions on doing this: http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/viewstory.php?t=78111
As noted at the end of that article, but worth reiterating here before you get started, it's always a good idea to back up important files before you tinker with your partitions. Even though Windows is managing the process, things could still go wrong with a partition resizing and data could be lost. Just a precaution. -
partition magic or any other prog that deals with merging/splitting drives will help u out

Thanks a lot. I backed up my files and am in the middle of creating a new partition. Rep point added. -
Good deal. I'm glad I could help. Happy partitioning.

Yeah, I'm glad Vista does it. I had a bad experience using Acronis to make a partition before I realized Vista already has it built-in.
