I'm booting from a second hdd to run Intel SSD toolbox's Secure erase tool. It requires that there be no partitions on the ssd to be erased. I deleted the other partitions using Disk Management function in Windows, but it won't let me delete one called Sytem_DRV, 1.17gb. How do I get rid of this?

you could boot a live linux cd (or flash drive) such as "gparted" and run the gparted program from the menu. It is a partition editor that can easily delete or create any partitions. be careful using it because it is not forgiving.. if you say delete X partition it will do it.

You can also do it via the command promt and DiskPart.exe > Select the disk in question > type CLEAN and it wipes all partitions. I've had to do this to get SE to work on my Intel SSD.

Just recently, I had a big issue where my OS disappeared. I ended up needing to do a secure erase, but didn't have access to Windows to make it happen. I booted into Parted Magic and was able to do the SE there w/o having to clean out the partitions first.
