I've had to take apart my laptop on a coup occasions for unrelated matters, and with that, it appears I've damaged the tiny ribbon for the fingerprint reader. Upon start-up the laptop looks for the reader but it's undetected. Eventually I may get it to work but in the meantime, since I don't have a disk to reinstall, I'd like to disable the DigitalPersona software.

    Any ideas?

ensure it's not set to run at startup ('win + r' -> "msconfig" -> startup tab), disable any associated services ('win + r' -> "services.msc"), and disable the device itself from device manager. that's about all there is to do short of uninstallation.
