I just want to get rid of safety remove for my laptop's internal (non-removable) dvd burner.
Every so often I accidentally click it and then I can't use the drive until i restart (or 'unplug the device'), but the drive is screwed into the computer, so yeah...

By the way, the computer is Windows Vista SP1; this annoyance also occurs in Windows XP.

If you don't need the Safely Remove Hardware dialog for any device, you can hide it permanently in the Customize Notifications Box.
You can also try and uninstall the ATA/IDE channel for the ODD, and let windows reinstall it, then see if that fixes the problem. (Also check if DMA is enabled).
