My laptop which is on windows 8 gets on the internet with very limited monthly traffic, e.g 1GB only, I'd like to know how to disable all those MSN advertisements, news, and weather things which automatically happens when connected to the internet?? Where to disable that?

Hello, my 8.1's are 100% 'stealth' vs MS, some basics in use here, all preinstalled bloatware (cr)apps are deleted (from hd), store and onedrive etc disabled, + added some entries in firewall and hosts, and some services disabled. And 'things' done in gpedit.msc. Update is left untouched and set to 'never' and doing manual updates as needed. Resource Monitor > network is useful to see whats going on. Goal is (more or less according to preferences) zero ip activity after a fresh boot.

To get full control, a good file manager (freecommander) + " take ownership" or\and 'security' settings > advanced > owner etc as needed. One may still have to battle with 'access denied' etc to files, but all can be overcome. pro got gpedit.msc, for home it can be added (never tried that), google it.

1st step is regular disk imaging to external media (macrium reflect with usb stick boot), experiments going too far anything can be fixed in a few minutes.

But it's all individual what needs to be done. Are you actually using any of the apps, store etc. Start by disabling the live tile activity, and uninstall (or delete from disk) any app not in use. Lots of info by googling, test some of the many tips and get some insight and experience. Most important, always remember the disk imaging ;O)

Sorry but I don't understand at all what you are talking about.

I just want to reduce the unnecessary traffic like news, weather and anything embedded in windows 8 which will take away my data, because I am on WiFi egg in which the monthly data is limited but not unlimited WiFi.

The trafic has definite and real sources, all mentionned in post above are steps to minimize the unwanted connections, you got to do research and work on it. Takes time to get results (and avoid unwanted results).

Start with the easy bit. Example from a quick gooogle search:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/115913/beginner-how-to-disable-a-live-tile-in-windows-8/

Boot the pc, open Resource Monitor > Network, and watch TCP connections, this is what is chewing on your monthly data limit. Finding the source of, and neutralizing, some\most\all of this ip activity is the goal.

And spend some time learning how to use Macrium Reflect (or similar imaging\backup program). This will save the day if (when :O) something goes wrong with the os or personal files.
