I clean installed Vista Ultimate and after running Windows Update, I suddenly have so many language packs and ultimate extra updates, its just so annoying. After I install office, visual studio, MySQL I know there are going to be tons more. Moreover there are some hardware updates for my touchpad and bluetooth, which I already have downloaded the latest of from manufacturer's website. Even more annoying is vista keeps telling me there are updates available, which infact I dont want to install.
It is very possible to check wrong or undesired update when there is such a huge list of recommended or optional updates. So is there any way I could prevent certain optional or recommended updates to show up in WU?

Right-click on the undesirable updates and select "hide update". Its slow, but it gets the job done.

Yay! Now to hide the 30+ language packs.

Thanks it worked..

You can also uninstall the language packs you do not want. Read more here.
